Thank You Hawthorne
ArticleAfter years in Hawthorne we are excited to announce that we have officially moved to our new home in Merthyr St, New Farm. We will continue to service all suburbs of Brisbane, however we wanted to take this opportunity to specifically thank the community of Hawthorne and Bulimba, for their support and patronage over our time in the area. We are privileged to have been a part of the local community and are proud to have been entrusted with the painting of so many of the local homes.
In honour of our time in Hawthorne, we have put together a small showcase of some of our favourite jobs from the area.
Incredible Queenslander transformation
This Queenslander in Parry Street, Bulimba, was suffering from oxidation to the previous paintwork, causing discoloration. The owners settled on a beautiful updated colour scheme of a muted blue with white accents to the window awnings, frames and railings. The final colour scheme is fresh and marries beautifully with the surrounding garden.
Spanish-inspired riverside home
One of the greatest joys of painting Brisbane homes is in working on the many varied architectural styles Brisbane has to offer. This is a beautiful example of a Mediterranean style home, set perfectly against the backdrop of the Brisbane river on Leura Terrace, Hawthorne.
This rendered home had some bubbling and oxidation of the existing paintwork, but also had some damage to timber elements. The owner chose to stay true to the original colour scheme, which worked well as warm whites and yellow tones are common features of homes of this architectural style and perfectly complement the terracotta of the roof and outdoor tiles.
Riverfront Interior and Exterior
This multi-storey riverfront property on Gordon St, Hawthorne made the most of its location with grand high ceilings and large windows to take in the river views. An inspection of the property prior to quoting found that the vertical joints in the ceiling had begun to separate and that staining had appeared between the boards. To tackle this problem, we erected tower scaffolding within the home and sealed the joints prior to coating. We believe that a job isn’t worth doing unless it’s done well. By fixing problems like these now we know that the coating will look better and last longer.
Grand Queenslander
The owners of this charming Queenslander in Amy Street, Hawthorne, sought our services to restore the exterior of the home including the decking. Aging of the pre-existing coating had resulted in fading and peeling of the paint, and so our team put in some extra work to prepare the surface prior to the application of the paint.
Following a colour consultation, the owners chose a strong palette of white with dark grey trims to the hand rails, posts, gutters and gables. This scheme updated the home and suited the grandeur of the property. The homeowners were a delight to work with and our team was thrilled to have achieved such a great result for the home and the client.
Restoration of this Architecturally Designed Home
One of the highlights of our time in the area was restoring this home in Quay St, Bulimba. The use of mixed materials on the exterior of the property was stunning and was a challenge perfectly suited to the skills of our team.
We got to work re-staining the beautiful spotted gum timber panelling. For a riverside property such as this, ongoing maintenance is a must. We worked closely with the owners to choose a painting product suited to the environmental conditions and fashioned a maintenance schedule for high exposure areas.
To all of our friends and clients in Hamilton, thank you for your support. We might not be based in Hawthorne anymore, but we’re just on the other side of the river and can’t wait to show you around our new place at 77 Merthyr St, New Farm.
